Segal Design Institute

The Segal Design Institute at Northwestern supports the study of human-centered design through multiple programs and activities at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The graduate programs offered at Northwestern focusing on design topics are:

The Master of Science in Engineering Design and Innovation (MS-EDI) program introduces engineers to design. In this 1-year, full-time program for recent engineering graduates, students learn to collaborate on cross-functional teams to create new products and services that meet the needs of people and the demands of business.

The Master in Product Development (MPD) is a two-year, part-time program teaching product development professionals how to manage the design process. A minimum of three years work experience is required for admission into the program.

The Management program in Design and Operations (MMM) program is a two year, full-time program administered jointly by the Kellogg School of Management and Northwestern Engineering that focuses upon design and operation. MMM students earn two degrees: MBA and an MEM (Master of Engineering Management). The admissions policy is described on the Kellogg website.
